This combined theory and practice workshop introduces the principles and various modalities of Oxygen therapies in modern clinical practice.
Medical Oxygen therapy has a 100 year history since it was first used systematically in healthcare. Initially only for pneumonia, followed by a step by step development process in creating the technology to administer oxygen. Since then not only the indication spectrum has widened but also the use of molecular variants and different entry routes into the body.
The theory session will explore areas such as:
Oxidation
-effects of Free Radicals in living systems
-the Oxygenation process in living systems
-the Body’s Antioxidant Adaptation
Oxidative Therapies
-what are they?
-activated oxygen and ozone
-how are they administered
- supportive technology
- their use across various health sectors
- supportive research ?
Medical indications for oxygen therapy
Oxygen in its wider context
Evolutionary aspects
Oxygen – and its role within a team of other gases
For allied health professionals it might be useful to revisit the various classical indications for oxygen therapy but also to learn about its wider and less commonly used indications in chronic disease.
Dr Jayanth Peddi will give an overview from his experience of the various forms of oxygen therapies: major autohaemotherapy, minor autohaemotherapy, local applications (eg. bagging, cupping, injections etc), Breathing Ozone-through-Oil technique (BOTO) and Extra-corporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO). The workshop will include practical demonstration of non-blood based therapies.
He will present protocols that can be used for respiratory conditions related to infections where immune support is crucial.
Dr Siegfried Trefzer will provide some of the academic introduction and also cover some clinical cases where Oxygen therapies have proved beneficial.
As this is a half day event, no lunch will be provided.
Due to the practical nature of the workshop it is an in-person event only and will NOT
be live-streamed or recorded.
