On 16 November the British Society for Ecological Medicine held a conference in London exploring the concept of metal toxicity and allergy as a much-overlooked factor in modern diseases. The conference was held jointly and dedicated to the memory of Professor Vera Stejskal, who passed away last year. Prof Stejskal was a pioneering Swedish immunologist and the inventor of the MELISA blood test for diagnosing metal allergy.*

This well attended seminar was hosted by the BSEM at the Hallam Conference Centre, Hallam Street, London W1. The 6 CPD points were awarded by The Royal Society of Medicine and also The Naturopathic Nutrition Association. The joint annual conference of the British Society for Ecological Medicine (BSEM) with the Allergy Research Foundation (ARF) took place on Friday 25th November at the Royal College of Physicians in London. The topic for 2016 was “Putting Oral Health at the Heart of Medicine”. The conference organising committee had met earlier with BSSCMD members Drs Patrick Grossmann,Michael White, and Noel Stimson to create a programme that integrated the dental, medical and surgical disciplines into one.
