Father Christmas, Saturated Fat, and the Great North Pole Nutrition Scandal
Father Christmas has a public image problem. Despite working one night a year as a globe-trotting endurance athlete, he is routinely depicted as overweight, breathless, and one mince pie away from a metabolic intervention.
But what if Santa’s girth isn’t caused by laziness or even overindulgence, but by bad nutritional advice? What if Father Christmas is simply the most famous casualty of the low-fat, high-carbohydrate experiment of the late 20th century?
And what if, had he stuck to a traditional Arctic diet, high in fat, rich in protein, low in refined carbohydrate, he might be slimmer, healthier, and still just as jolly?
We follow the evidence. Even if it leads us somewhere uncomfortable…
